Myanmar Earthquake Emergency Response
Now is the time to act. Together, we can save lives and bring hope to Myanmar in its darkest hour.
Executive Summary
On Friday, March 28, 2025, Myanmar was struck by a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake, the most powerful to hit the country in over a century. The destruction has been catastrophic, with over 3,000 confirmed fatalities, thousands more injured or missing, and tens of thousands of buildings reduced to rubble. Critical infrastructure—including roads, bridges, and hospitals—has collapsed, making emergency relief efforts even more difficult. Myanmar, already suffering from ongoing civil conflict and humanitarian crises, now faces an urgent need for medical supplies, equipment, and aid.
The Situation on the Ground in Myanmar
The earthquake has only worsened an already dire humanitarian crisis. Hospitals and clinics, already strained by years of civil unrest, are now overwhelmed with casualties. Medical professionals, facing severe shortages of equipment and supplies, are struggling to provide care. Many healthcare workers are treating patients in unsafe and unsanitary conditions, while essential medicines and life-saving tools are running out. Collapsed infrastructure has further isolated rural communities, leaving countless people without access to emergency care. Without immediate medical relief, the death toll will continue to rise. The people of Myanmar need our help now.
Project C.U.R.E.’s Role in Disaster Relief
For over 35 years, Project C.U.R.E. has been on the front lines of global disaster relief, delivering critical medical aid to communities in crisis. Our extensive experience includes responding to earthquakes, hurricanes, and humanitarian emergencies worldwide. We have successfully mobilized medical aid in Afghanistan, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Syria, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and beyond.
With a global supply chain and trusted partnerships with hospitals, governments, and NGOs, Project C.U.R.E. can rapidly deploy life-saving medical shipments to Myanmar’s hardest-hit areas.
A Trusted Partner in Myanmar
Our response is strengthened by our long-term partnership with Philip Htoon, a Project C.U.R.E. volunteer since 2006. Philip has personally sponsored and delivered 15 cargo containers of medical supplies—valued at over $6.5 million—to Myanmar’s hospitals and clinics.
His experience coordinating cross-border medical shipments from India and Thailand makes him instrumental in ensuring aid reaches the people who need it most. His leadership during past crises, including Cyclone Nargis, has proven critical to successful disaster relief efforts.
Now, as Myanmar faces its greatest medical emergency in over 100 years, Philip is ready to mobilize urgent aid—but we need your support to make it happen.
