About the Project
Madame Theresa Coomber is a midwife who has been practicing in Sierra Leone for over 40 years. Her daughter, Dr Deema Coomber, is a licensed general surgeon. The goal is to bring mother and daughter together to care for patients in the Divine Solutions Medical Centre, the clinic we are working to equip.

This clinic is located in the central part of Freetown, Sierra Leone, the capital city of the country. Freetown is home to over 2 million people, many of whom are living in poor conditions. Most families cannot afford basic medical care and certainly cannot afford prenatal care. With an infant mortality rate of 66% prenatal care is a vital part of improving survival odds in both infants and mothers. Both have been increased in the past decade with more access to reliable medical care, but the access has to continue and improve.

Our Goal
The goal is to provide this clinic with much-needed resources and equipment to serve the population of women and children who need care. The clinic will not only offer pre- and postnatal care, but will also treat common diseases such as cholera, typhoid, malaria, and other communicable diseases. The area has high rates of teen pregnancy and child marriage, and these young mothers often get overlooked. This clinic will be well-equipped to serve these young women and the specific challenges that their age and development requires.
