The people of the Iraqi region of Kurdistan have experienced decades of violence and pressures to assimilate under Iraqi rule. Many were forced to leave and those who stayed for years lived in fear of the violence that hovered outside their door.
The region of Kurdistan has enjoyed many years of peace now and is home to warm and welcoming people, rich culture, and beautiful landscapes. However, many areas have never fully recovered from the years of struggle and are in need of support to develop infrastructure and expand capacity to serve the healthcare needs of their community.
